Mental Health Awareness

Prosperity In Mind believe strongly in the need for developing society’s awareness of positive mental health as well as mental health problems.

By developing our understanding of what is helpful and conducive to well-being and taking steps to preventing mental ill health, we can start to develop effective solutions.

Prosperity In Mind offer bespoke training packages on mental health awareness for business and organisations. These training packages equip delegates to better understand common mental health problems and what may contribute to these, and to gain a sense of what they can do collectively to promote positive mental health and well-being.
There is an emphasis on preventing mental health problems and mental illness in the workplace and on the pertinent issues surrounding this. Delegates are encouraged to play an active role in correcting stereotypes of individuals with mental health problems, to challenge stigma and to reduce discrimination. All training packages can be adapted to suit organisational need.

Our mental health awareness training packages have been developed by, Consultant Clinical Psychologists.

Mental Health First Aid (MHFA)

Mental Health First Aid (MHFA) is a concept that was developed in Melbourne, Australia. The notion is that all workplaces have a trained and designated Mental Health First Aider. In parallel with first aid for physical injuries, the Mental Health First Aider provides a first line of response and support for employees who are experiencing mental health problems. This involves the recognition and identification of warning signs of common problems, the offering of support and guidance, listening and reassuring, and appropriate intervention where recognised at times of mental health crisis.

The Mental Health First Aider is not a mental health professional in the same way that a general first aider is not a doctor. Rather, the Mental Health First Aider has acquired knowledge and skills to help and support those affected by mental health problems where appropriate in the workplace.

Prosperity In Mind offer a comprehensive 12-hour MHFA training programme to equip Mental Health First Aiders for the role. The programme is spread over two days with a break in between to help consolidate knowledge and reflect on programme content.

Our MHFA training programme was developed by Clinical Psychologists. The course content is informed by knowledge and clinical experience of working with people with mental health problems in a range of contexts. It draws on relevant theory and expertise informed by clinical psychology, psychiatry and talking therapies.
